Shri. Suparno Satpathy brings extraordinary experience, passion, and perspective to his role as the Chairman of Smt.Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust - SNSMT (one of the premium social cause organizations of India) and as the former Convener of  Panchayat Mahila evam Yuva Shakti Abhiyan (PMYSA)- Odisha, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of India (2007-2012). As a philanthropist, social activist, writer, champion sports veteran, former entrepreneur and young political leader he is one of the leading progressive voices of today’s Odisha. He works tirelessly on behalf of those in Odisha who struggle to be heard.

Shri. Suparno Satpathy took to grass root social activism after he was elected as the Chairman of SNSMT which was few months after legendary Smt.Nandini Satpathy took to her eternal journey in Aug,2006.  Late Smt. Nandini Satpathy- two times member of the upper house of India (Rajya Sabha), Minister of  I & B- Govt. Of India, Minister attached to PM of India, Chief Minister of Odisha, nationally acclaimed author, noted social activist, iron lady of Odisha, one of the leading progressive thinkers of modern post independent India and the symbol of women power in India.

Shri. Suparno Satpathy’s experience in social work & politics begun at a very young age, beginning as the lead volunteer with the MLA of Dhekanal and then later with the MP of Dhenkanal. He campaigned for numerous liberal issues at the age of 9, while assisting late Nandini Satpathy. At the age of 10 he was advocating for the upliftment of Dhenkanal and for peace in Odisha by writing letters to the then Prime Minister of India late Smt. Indira Gandhi.

He is an administration graduate (B.B.A). He has seeked education from  DM School,- Bhubaneswar, Army Public School- New Delhi and Newport University (USA). He has had the opportunity of listening, learning, connecting and working with people from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. His formative years were deeply influenced by his legendary grandparents, the divine Mother of Pondicherry ( Shree Maa ) and the teachings of the greatest visionary Shree Aurobindo Ghosh. His journey and experiences have served as his own inspiration in advocating for women, fighting for the youth and promoting Odisha’s albeit India’s role in the international arena.

As a social worker, philanthropist and an author specializing on socio–economic- political issues, prior to seeking to the office of the Convener PMYSA-Odisha, Shri. Satpathy has witnessed firsthand complexities and the challenges of the common Indian, especially those faced by the youth from Odisha. He is well connected to the grassroot social & political activism in Odisha. It is with this firsthand knowledge and insight that Shri. Satpathy has been able to contribute so strongly to his role as the Convener PMYSA-Odisha Shri. Suparno Satpathy has been a strong voice on behalf of youth to ensure that they have the necessary resources they need to succeed. He has worked to ensure community organizations and small businesses across Odisha receive self employment opportunities for students. His energy and vision have made him a natural role model for the next generation of Oriyas as he listens, encourages and inspires the  youth of today.

As one of India’s young philanthropists, social activists and political leaders Shri. Satpathy does recognize his responsibility in reaching out to youth and promoting youth participation in the political process, most importantly the rural youth.

Shri. Satpathy is the initiator of ‘Project Nandini’ a social cause project which works for the development of semi urban & rural women of India. Shri. Satpathy was in the forefront to advocate for ‘June 9’ as the’ National Daughters day of India ( NANDINI DIWAS* ).This project was launched and the first national daughters day-’Nandini Diwas was notified by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha H.Ex. Rameshwar Thakur on June 9, 2007. The said project is appreciated by the hon’ble PM of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.

In addition to his work in youth & women development Shri. Satpathy has also championed important issues of ‘Environment Protection’ & ‘Industrial criminalization’.

Shri. Suparno Satpathy belongs to one of the most illustrious families of India, he is the great grandson of Padmabhushan late Shri. Kalindi Charan Panigrahi, the grandson of late Devendra Satpathy and legendary late Smt. Nandini Satpathy . Shri. Suparno Satpathy since childhood had been in contact and has gathered a lot of knowledge from  the top of the line personalities of literature and politics of Odisha / India. It will not be wrong to mention that the same very strongly reflects in  Shri.Suparno  Satpathy’s. persona.

Raised by his legendary grandmother Shri. Suparno Satpathy recognizes the many obstacles women face in their careers and daily lives and he is committed to recognizing their hard work, vision and commitment. As a founder, organizer and member of numerous organizations benefiting and empowering women he continues to promote the participation of women in the political process and lends a strong voice to issues and causes that impact women.

As one of Odisha’s leading progressive voices, Shri. Satpathy has also championed a wide variety of causes on the international scene. In this era of globalization; he has been a firm promoter of enhancing India’s trade relationships and partnerships with emerging economies. He is also a firm proponent of India’s unique role as a leader in the global arena for democracy, peace and humanitarian relief efforts.

On a personal front he is a avid reader, he has a passion for horse riding, loves gym / cross country training (He was Mr.Delhi-1990 & Mr. Haryana-1990 in Body Building),he loves traveling. He loves cycling, playing cricket, basketball and table tennis. His favorite food is ‘pakhala’ the staple food of Odisha - he is a teetotaler and prefers vegetarian food. He partly owns one of the leading fitness company M/s Fit India Fitness (P) Ltd. He was born to Smt.Pami & Shri.Nachiketa Satpathy on Jan 15 ‘1973. He got married to Mrs. Kanchan Satpathy in 1996. He fathered his only child Ms. Sanya Satpathy in 1999.

Shri.Suparno Satpathy has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions for his vision and commitment towards the social causes. Also for his dedication and efforts in helping others. He is the recipient of the prestigious ‘Rashtriya Ektta Samman-2007’. He is a regular on TV and radio talk shows in Odisha. He is a much sought after speaker.

His passionate vision for Odisha and its future, combined with his goal to empower women / youth, his ‘statesman’ leadership quality, his socialist ideology and his respect for the elders has given strength, hope and inspiration to many in Odisha albeit in India.
